Gold Wine Award 2026 IWSC for Vernaccia di Oristano DOC Riserva 2002

It is with great pride that Cantina e Distilleria Silvio Carta announces a new and prestigious international recognition: the Vernaccia di Oristano DOC Riserva 2002 (IWSC) has been awarded the Gold Award Wine 2026 at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), achieving an outstanding score of 95/100.

An extraordinary milestone for a wine that embodies more than twenty years of slow and masterful evolution, carefully preserved with the same dedication and attention that have distinguished the work of the Carta family in the heart of the Sinis for over seventy years.

The Vernaccia di Oristano DOC Riserva 2002 is far more than a wine: it is the expression of a story that began in the 1950s, when Silvio Carta first interpreted this remarkable native grape variety with vision, sensitivity, and deep respect for the land. Aged in century-old Sardinian chestnut barrels and protected beneath the veil of flor — the characteristic layer of yeasts that shapes and preserves the wine over time — the Riserva 2002 is the result of rare patience and a technique handed down with rigor and passion. Today, that story is once again being recognized among the world’s finest wine excellences.

The award was presented by an internationally renowned jury composed of Helena Nicklin, Victoria Mason MW, Andrew Johnson, Leonardo Bassano, and Federico Moccia.

This recognition belongs to the entire supply chain: to the growers of the territory, to the winery, to those who preserve the wine through time — and to those who, one day, will uncork a bottle and share in its value and memory.

The Land, Time, Knowledge.
For over seventy years, our craft.
