Silvio Carta once again on the highest step of the podium with all the power of tradition.

The IWC – International Wine Challenge is one of the most historic wine competitions in London, founded in 1984. The jury consists of 460 international experts from 38 countries who are invited to judge the 51 countries from which the wines come from. This year there are only 17 gold medals for the wine making scene of Italy and Silvio Carta’s Vernaccia di Oristano Riserva 2006 represents the island of the Quattro Mori on the highest step of the podium.

“All our Vernaccia vintages are like old books written by scribes, each drop is the story of a moment, a method, a millenary tradition” says Elio Carta owner and winemaker of Silvio Carta S.r.l. “This new gold medal of the IWC, like all the awards received for our Vernaccia vintages, makes me doubly happy and proud because they are indeed the recognition for the work and sacrifices of our company, but also the evidence of the value that this great and ancient vine represents for an entire territory, a unicum of inestimable value. ”

Vernaccia di Oristano DOC Riserva 2006 is exciting, fresh and very persuasive thanks to the original interweaving of sweet notes and strong sapidity. A wine that, despite its fifteen years, is still young and attractive. Sincere and authentic result of a skilful vinification that continues with a long aging in chestnut barrels monitored on a daily basis by time and by the careful care given by Elio Carta.

The production method, a proud memory of the most archaic tradition which involves the use of superficial filming yeasts named “flor”, makes all the different vintages of the Maison of Baratili San Pietro authentic glories of national oenology. Unique “ingredients” together with time and the passing of the seasons.
