The company's first activity was the vinification and refinement of seductive Vernaccia, a wine that takes its name from the vine called Vernaccia. Still today at Silvio Carta the wine is patiently aged incharacteristic seasoned chestnut barrels. In time tastes have changed, and on account of its high alcohol content, consumption of precious Vernaccia has dropped. But Silvio Carta's importantposition on the market was consolidated in 1984 when alongside Vernaccia, an efficient distillery was installed to procuce simple, top-quality, traditional liquors such as Mirto, "Filu Ferru", Limoncino and the Creams.
